Carry the Tiger to the Mountain

It is always exciting to witness the application of kung fu or tai chi techniques. We practice these techniques over and over but nothing beats having the application demonstrated before your very eyes by Grandmaster.

I am familiar with the application of most Choy Li Fut techniques. However, the day Grandmaster decided to demonstrate an application was during a tai chi class. After practicing a section of the Yang 108, he asked if anyone knew the application of "carry tiger to mountain." Nobody's hand went up. Grandmaster asked me specifically if I knew how to "carry tiger to mountain"? As I responded in the negative, Grandmaster motioned for me to come over to him. I was honored and apprehensive at the same time. He first demonstrated the technique utilizing it against a push to the chest. I thought, "Okay, pretty cool." Then he said, "but this is carry tiger to mountain," and proceeded to apply the same technique and literally sweep me off my feet. Next thing I knew I was being carried like a ball either to be thrown or carried off! I tapped Grandmaster to be released. So then, Grandmaster says, "go practice on a smaller tiger first." I bowed to thank him.
